Doppler-free saturation absorption spectroscopy was applied on an atom
ic thulium vapour in a see-through hollow cathode for the determinatio
n of precise values for the magnetic dipole hyperfine structure consta
nts A of 6 levels of the configuration 4f(13) 6s7s. A parametric analy
sis of the hyperfine structure has been performed, using wave-function
s from a fine structure calculation, which leads to one-electron hyper
fine structure parameters a(4f)(01) = -500(6) MHz, a(6s)(10) = -5058(4
7) MHz, and a(7s)(10) = -1012 MHz.
