TC-99M TETROFOSMIN - A NEW DIAGNOSTIC TRACER FOR PARATHYROID IMAGING

A 42-year-old woman with hyperparathyroidism had a CT scan that was su ggestive of a small nodular lesion in the left lower neck. Tc-99m sest amibi and Tc-99m tetrofosmin parathyroid imaging were performed 10 min utes and 2 hours after tracer injection. Early imaging with Tc-99m ses tamibi demonstrated thyroid and focal uptake in the left lower neck. O n delayed imaging, findings suggested a parathyroid adenoma. Imaging w ith Tc-99m tetrofosmin demonstrated similar findings. The abnormal par athyroid gland was an adenoma.
