Oa. Belenkevich et Ss. Shutova, EVALUATION AND INHERITANCE OF REACTION EX PRESSIVITY TO TEMPERATURE AND LIGHT FACTORS IN BARLEY (HORDEUM-VULGARE L) - REACTION TO LIGHT QUALITY, Genetika, 31(7), 1995, pp. 958-964
On the basis of changes in the length of ontogeny stages, i.e., vegeta
tive and generative sphere formation and the maturing of reproductive
organs, the expressivity of reactions to light quality, short day, ele
vated growing temperature, and low light intensity in 83 spring barley
varieties (Hordeum vulgare L.) was determined. Plants responded to fa
ctors studied at different stages of ontogeny. A unified evaluation sy
stem of reaction expressivity to temperature and light factors is sugg
ested. In particular environments, the length of plant vegetation and
their adaptivity depend on genotypic variation in the expressivity of
these reactions. Data on the inheritance of expressivity of barley rea
ctions to light quality are discussed.
