Abstract
The transfer reactions of carbon and oxygen from or to molten steel ha ve been analyzed using nonlinear rate equations. The nonlinear rate eq uations successfully reproduced the change of carbon and oxygen concen trations in molten steel. It was shown that the coupling of chemical r eaction and diffusion of carbon and oxygen should be taken into accoun t within the diffusion layer in molten steel in order to explain the c hange of the concentrations in molten steel.
