ROVIBRATIONAL INTERACTIONS IN THE LOCAL-MODE LIMIT - THE (N000) STRETCHING OVERTONE BANDS OF SPHERICAL TOPS

We present a tensorial formalism adapted to the study of the (n000) ro vibrational stretching states of spherical tops in the local mode limi t. A local symmetrized rovibrational basis is built to take explicitly into account the fact that, in these states, the local symmetry is C- 3 upsilon rather than Td Likewise, we introduce local rovibrational op erators to build an effective Hamiltonian for these states. We then te st our model by fitting the energy levels of (SiH4)-Si-28 for 3 less t han or equal to n less than or equal to 5. (C) 1995 Academic Press, In c.
