Abstract
The initial value problem for the modified Benjamin-One equation is so lved by exploiting the Fokas-Ablowitz inverse scattering transform for a certain complex extension of the Benjamin-Ono equation. The asympto tics of the Jest functions for small (positive) values of the spectral parameter are sharpened and lead to a previously overlooked nongeneri c case. (C) 1995 American Institute of Physics.
