Abstract
Model, unsymmetrical quaterpyridines were prepared by Pd(O)-catalyzed cross-coupling of a pyridyl borane or stannane to a chlorinated bipyri dine. A pyridyl N-oxide synthon was used to introduce regioselectively the required alpha-chloro group.
