Abstract
The paper describes the application of an adaptive algorithm for the m onitoring and control of anaerobic digestion. Results are presented on the performance of the model for controlling shock loads applied to l aboratory-scale anaerobic filters. Instrumentation and sensors used we re on-line conductivity, suspended solids, gas flow and quality. Data are also presented on the steady-state performance of the upflow anaer obic filter for the treatment of dairy and coffee effluent.
