Abstract
We describe a 62-year-old woman in whom systemic lupus erythematosus p resented as life-threatening effuso-constrictive pericarditis. Surgica l drainage of the pericardium was required and the patient made a sati sfactory recovery. At six-months follow-up, while taking hydroxychloro quine and a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agent, she remains well.
