FT-IR SKELETAL STUDY OF RBA(2)CU(3)O(7-Y) (R=LN OR Y) AND ND2-XCEXCUO4 CUPRATE POWDERS

The FT-IR/FT-FIR spectra of powders of Nd2-xCexCuO4 solid solutions (x less than or equal to 0.25) and of RBa(2)Cu(3)O(7-y) (y = 0.2-0.3) wi th R = Y, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, and Yb, have been record ed at room temperature. A comparison with the published single crystal IR data is made. An empirical assignment of the observed bands is pro posed on the basis of the factor group analysis and a discussion of th e internal vibrational structure of the CuOx structures is given.
