Methods for titrimetric determination of U(VI) in the ranges of 2 - 24
mg and 0.05 - 0.7 mg using, respectively, a 10(-3) M solution of bis-
(4-diethylaminophenyl)-antipyrylcarbinol (L) in 0.5 M HCl and a 10(-4)
M solution of phenyl-4'-methylbenzylaminophenylantipyrylcarbinol (Q)
in 1 M HCl have been proposed. The methods are based on the determinat
ion of the poorly soluble ion associate formed between an acidic urany
l thiocyanate complex and the protonated form of an antipyrine dye in
0.5 - 2.0 M HCl and 0.5 M NH4SCN solutions. The titration is carried o
ut in the presence of ligroine until the solution develops a pink colo
ration. The method was used to analyze the loparite concentrate waste
in the production of titanium.
