MAGNETIC-PROPERTIES AND METHODS OF INSPECTING THE STRUCTURE AND STRENGTH CHARACTERISTICS OF CAST-IRON COMPONENTS (REVIEW)

The results of investigations into the relationships of the variation of the magnetic, electrical, and mechanical properties of cast irons w ith the variation of the chemical composition and heat treatment condi tions are generalized. The possibilities of using the magnetic charact eristics for determining the structural state and mechanical propertie s of cast iron components are analyzed. The methods and means of nonde structive inspection of cast irons which often make it possible to car ry out 100% inspection of production, thus increasing the level of rel iability and the life of machines and mechanisms, are examined.
