Mp. Cagigal et Pm. Prieto, VELOCITY AND ACCELERATION MEASUREMENT FROM THE SPATIOTEMPORAL FOURIER-TRANSFORM OF LOW-LIGHT-LEVEL IMAGES, Optical review, 2(4), 1995, pp. 239-242
The spatio-temporal Fourier transform is usually applied to determine
the velocity of an object from a series of standard light intensity fr
ames. In this paper the technique has been extended to determine the o
bject acceleration. The techniques for velocity and acceleration deter
mination based on the spatio-temporal Fourier transform have been appl
ied to experimental low light level images. Under these conditions, th
e processing time is reduced so that, in those cases in which it is ne
cessary to quickly obtain the object velocity or acceleration, low lig
ht level conditions would be advantageous, using intensity filters if
necessary.
