PM-MODNET - A EUROPEAN THEMATIC NETWORK IN POWDER-METALLURGY PROCESS MODELING

The PM industry is under increasing pressure to produce components wit h improved properties, to improved quality and tolerance standards. Op timum use of the increasingly sophisticated press and furnace technolo gy that is now available will be possible only if the fundamental proc esses involved are better understood. As DAVID WHITTAKER, the network' s Technical Coordinator, describes, the importance of process modellin g in achieving these objectives is being recognised in a European them atic network, developed from an EPMA initiative, for which EU funding is being sought.
