Na. Badawy, ANION-EXCHANGE SEPARATION OF LEAD FROM OTHER ELEMENTS IN NITRIC ACID-ORGANIC SOLVENTS MEDIA, INDIAN JOURNAL OF CHEMICAL TECHNOLOGY, 2(6), 1995, pp. 341-342
The anion exchange chromatographic technique has been employed for the
separation of Pb(II), from some divalent and trivalent metal ions usi
ng Dowex 2-X8 exchange resin (nitrate form). The effect of metal ion c
oncentration on the distribution coefficients (K-d) have been investig
ated and a suitable media is selected. The batch distribution coeffici
ent has been determined for Mg(II), Co(II), Fe(III), Cd(II) and Pb(II)
ions using different concentrations of nitric acid and different prop
ortions of ethanol and acetone. The results showed that lead is adsorb
ed much more strongly in the exchanger used than the most other elemen
ts.
