Abstract
Condensation of mesitylenecarbonitrile oxide with 2-methyl-4-phenyl-3H -[1,5]benzodiazepine leads to the title compound, C26H25N3O. It has be en established that 1,3-dipolar cycloaddition occurs on the N1=C2 doub le bond of the benzodiazepine. The oxadiazole ring is practically plan ar while the diazepine ring adopts a boat conformation.
