Tk. Ghosh et al., THE 2P(5)3L CONFIGURATIONS OF HIGHLY STRIPPED NE-LIKE IONS - POSSIBILITY OF X-RAY LASER-EMISSION, The Astrophysical journal, 452(2), 1995, pp. 949-953
The 2p(5)3l (l = 0, 1, 2) singlet configurations of highly stripped Ne
-like ions from Ar8+ to Kr26+ have been calculated using time-dependen
t coupled Hartree-Fock theory, and their transition schemes are analyz
ed. Many of these lines are observed from laser-produced plasmas of th
e respective atoms and are useful for high-temperature plasma diagnost
ics and in stellar opacity projects. The data are very useful for unde
rstanding and modeling of laser action at short wavelengths, particula
rly in the X-ray region. The lasing action usually occurs from transit
ions with the levels 2p(5)3p-->2p(5)3s. Transition energies, oscillato
r strengths, and dipolar and quadrupolar transition probabilities have
been estimated for all the excitations studied. Results agree well wi
th experimental and theoretical data wherever available.
