M. Heyndrickx et al., PAENIBACILLUS (FORMERLY BACILLUS) GORDONAE (PICHINOTY ET-AL 1986) ASHET-AL 1994 IS A LATER SUBJECTIVE SYNONYM OF PAENIBACILLUS (FORMERLY BACILLUS) VALIDUS (NAKAMURA 1984) ASH ET-AL 1994 - EMENDED DESCRIPTION OF P-VALIDUS, International journal of systematic bacteriology, 45(4), 1995, pp. 661-669
A polyphasic study in which we performed an amplified ribosomal DNA re
striction analysis, sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide! gel electro
phoresis of whole-cell proteins, a gas chromatographic analysis of met
hylated fatty acids, pyrolysis mass spectrometry, a random amplified p
olymorphic DNA analysis, a phenotypic analysis, and an analysis of the
levels of DNA binding of Paenibacillus gordonae and Paenibacillus val
idus strains (including both type strains) showed that these organisms
form a homogeneous group and that the names P. gordonae and P. validu
s are therefore synonyms. P. validus has nomenclatural priority, and a
n emended description of this species is given; the type strain is str
ain LMG 11161 (= ATCC 43897).
