P. Granger et al., AQUEOUS-PHASE STABILITY OF COPPER-BASED C ATALYSTS, Journal de chimie physique et de physico-chimie biologique, 92(9), 1995, pp. 1557-1575
The stability of Cu/SiO2 catalysts was studied at 353 K in aqueous pha
se in the presence of hydrogen. Complex phenomena appeared : partial o
xidation of the metallic surface, partial dissolution of oxidized copp
er species and readsorption of copper ions. From these observations a
mechanism is suggested for the metal sintering, via solvated ionic spe
cies.
