Dk. Roy et al., EVALUATION OF ELECTRICAL-PROPERTIES OF BASIC FUCHSIN DYE BY SPACE-CHARGE-LIMITED CURRENT MEASUREMENTS, Indian Journal of Pure & Applied Physics, 33(10), 1995, pp. 606-609
The measured electrical properties of basic fuchsin (BF) dye available
in pellet form of thicknesses ranging from 620 to 1100 mu m have been
reported. It has been observed that at room temperature the current d
ensity-electric field (J-epsilon) characteristics of these materials d
isplay Ohmic behaviour at low fields, but at higher fields the space-c
harge-limited (SCL) conductivity controlled by an exponential distribu
tion of traps above the valence band edge has been noticed. The measur
ement of current density (J) as a function of the temperature (T) in t
hese materials showed voltage variable slopes on plots of log J versus
1/T curves in accordance with the theory of exponential trap distribu
tions. Analyzing the experimental results, the values of electrical pa
rameters namely dielectric constant, carrier density, carrier mobility
, concentration of traps per unit energy range at the valence band-edg
e, effective density of states in the valence band, temperature parame
ter of trap distribution and the total trapping concentration of the m
aterial have been estimated.
