Abstract
The synthesis of a series of azo colorants from diazotised arylamines and 4(5)-cyano-5(4)-hydroxyimidazole is described The dyes exhibit lar ge bathochromic shifts of visible absorption maxima relative to analog ous dyes derived from carbocyclic coupling components. Some preliminar y spectra data are reported.
