The effect of magnetic field on the curing kinetics for network polyme
r based on diglycidyl ester of terephthaloyl-bis(4-hydroxy benzoic aci
d) in liquid-crystalline phase was studied using calorimetry, NMR, and
X-ray diffraction. The magnetic field was shown to inhibit anionic po
lymerization of diglycidyl ester of terephthaloyl-bis(4-hydroxy benzoi
c acid). The ordering in the course of spontaneous hardening of the po
lymer decreases to the ultimate value of 0.5, whereas in anionic polym
erization, virtually complete disordering is attained. The ordering of
network polymer can be preserved if the polymerization of diglycidyl
eater of terephthaloyl-bis(4-hydroxy benzoic acid) is performed accord
ing to a programmed temperature history.
