The rotational mobility of a spin probe in polymer micellar systems, i
.e., complexes of dodecyltrimethylammonium bromide (DTAB) with sodium
poly(acrylate) and free DTAB micelles, was studied. The rotational mob
ility of the probe in the polymer micelles is markedly lower than in-t
he free micelles. This is caused either by a closer packing of the det
ergent molecules or by the effect of polymer-surfactant interaction on
the molecular mobility of surfactant. Variation of the composition of
the complex almost does not affect the probe mobility. This effect do
es not depend on the solubility of the complex. The packing density in
intramacromolecular polymer micelles is independent of the compositio
n of the complex and its solubility.
