Abstract
This paper describes a theoretical study of the XY-8 phase cycling met hod used in many solid-state NMR experiments. It has been found that X Y-8 phase cycling can compensate errors up to the second order in the expansion of the average Hamiltonian. The result has been used to disc uss the REDORTOSS experiment. A general method to overcome problems du e to chemical-shift anisotropy in the REDOR experiment is also discuss ed. It is recommended that nuclei with large chemical-shift anisotropi es should be detected with the observable channel and the REDORTOSS me thod used to eliminate the sidebands.
