Abstract
A linear analysis of the density-matrix equations for a four-level ele ctron-nuclear-spin-coupled system predicts the onset of a coherent Ram an beat signal. The signal appears during the application of a long, s ingle, weak, continuous-wave EPR probe pulse which replaces the third pulse in the stimulated-echo experiment, and is identical to the three -pulse stimulated-echo envelope modulation calculated by Mims [Phys. R ev. B 5, 2409 (1972)]. The first two pulses prepare coherent superposi tion among coupled nuclear-spin states. During the EPR probe pulse, nu clear coherence is transfered to electron-spin coherence which exhibit s beats as a measure of the splittings among the nuclear levels. (C) 1 995 Academic Press, Inc.
