Abstract
This investigation explored the factors responsible for the wide varia tions in the notch-rupture properties of wrought superalloy 718. Micro structural characterization of selected failed samples, using optical and transmission electron microscopy, revealed that the considerable v ariations occurred due to nonuniform distribution of the delta phase a nd reduced size of the gamma '' strengthening phase.
