Abstract
Street gang violence has become a major public health problem in the U nited States, especially in the inner cities. Firearms are the most co mmonly used weapons in violent street gang activity. Walkup and drive- by shootings that result in injuries are two of the most common crimes committed by members of violent street gangs. To prevent injury and d eath from gang violence, the root causes of violent street gang activi ty must be alleviated, and the relationship between firearms and gang Violence must be addressed.
