C. Hidalgodiaz et al., EFFECT OF PACAP ON LH-RELEASE AND INTRACELLULAR CALCIUM MOBILIZATION IN PORCINE PITUITARY-CELLS, Netherlands journal of zoology, 45(1-2), 1995, pp. 166-168
Pituitary adenylate cyclase-activating polypeptide (PACAP) is suggeste
d to control the activity of pituitary cells. Here we demonstrate that
PACAP acts directly on gonadotrope cells increasing LH release, modul
ating the action of Gonadotropin Releasing Hormone (GnRH) and inducing
mobilization of free cytosolic calcium ([Ca2+](i)) PACAP could play a
physiological role in the regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-go
nadal axis.
