P. Nemec et al., EFFECT OF PHOTODARKENING ON DYNAMICS OF VISIBLE AND INFRARED PHOTOLUMINESCENCEIN CDSXSE1-X-DOPED GLASS, Physical review. B, Condensed matter, 52(12), 1995, pp. 8605-8608
Measurements of the decay of both visible and infrared luminescence in
a commercial Shott color glass doped by CdSxSe1-x microcrystals are r
eported. Dynamics of the visible luminescence is interpreted by a mode
l according to which conduction-band carriers recombine by the Auger p
rocess with a coefficient of similar to 10(-30) Cm(6)s(-1), and by mon
omolecular decay to localized states. Photodarkening affects the latte
r process. The growth of its rate constant was found to be identical w
ith that of absorbance of the excited sample and interpreted in terms
of an increase in the number of energy states localized on the surface
. The infrared luminescence decays nonexponentially but the tails of d
ecay curves can be approximated by an exponential function with a time
constant of similar to 12 mu s. An analogy with the recombination of
localized carriers in disordered semiconductors is discussed. There ha
s not been found any effect of photodarkening on the dynamics of infra
red luminescence.
