Abstract
The optical method of reflected caustics convenient for evaluating str ain fields around singularities in plane elasticity and plasticity pro blems is now extended for defining axisymmetric buckling parameters in elastically deformed plates. Measuring the diameter of the circular c austic produced by the reflected light rays on the buckled surface of a flexed Circular plate, it is possible to define the deformation fiel d all over the buckled plate.
