Abstract
An expedition to Chile and Argentina was made with the main purpose of collecting representative samples of the genetic variability of the s pecies Hordeum chilense Roem. et Schult. During the held trips 55 popu lations of H. chilense and 45 populations of other Hordeum species wer e collected. The habitats where the species were growing were analyzed .
