Abstract
A general synthetic strategy for making, and structures and some prope rties of, several new polynuclear nickel complexes of pyridonate ligan ds are reported: these complexes include a linear trinuclear complex [ Ni-3(chp)(4)(O(2)CMe)(2)(MeOH)(6)], a tetranuclear cubane [Ni-4(OMe)(4 )(eta-chp)(chp)(3)(MeOH)(7)] and two undecanuclear complexes 11(mu(3)- OH)(6)(O(2)CMe)(6)(mhp)(9)(H2O)(3)]2[CO3] and [Ni-11(mu(3)-OH)(6)(O(2) CMe)(7)(mhp)(9)(Hmhp)(2)] (Hchp and Hmhp = 6-chloro- and 6-methyl-2-py ridone respectively).
