Sp. Chaudhuri et P. Sarkar, CONSTITUTION OF PORCELAIN BEFORE AND AFTER HEAT-TREATMENT .1. MINERALOGICAL COMPOSITION, Journal of the European Ceramic Society, 15(10), 1995, pp. 1031-1035
Porcelain compositions were prepared with and without the addition of
mineralizers/nucleating agents and their phase assemblages were studie
d before and after subjecting them to heat-treatment. Mullite, quartz
and glass were defected in the compositions before hear-treatment, but
cristobalite appeared as an additional phase after heat-treatment. He
at-treated compositions were comparatively rich in mullite following c
rystallization from the glassy phase. Nb2O5 was the most efficient nuc
leating agent among those tried.
