Abstract
Porcelain compositions were prepared with and without the addition of mineralizers/nucleating agents and their phase assemblages were studie d before and after subjecting them to heat-treatment. Mullite, quartz and glass were defected in the compositions before hear-treatment, but cristobalite appeared as an additional phase after heat-treatment. He at-treated compositions were comparatively rich in mullite following c rystallization from the glassy phase. Nb2O5 was the most efficient nuc leating agent among those tried.
