Abstract
The friction temperature in a discrete contact under conditions of mix ed friction are analyzed. The thermal deformations (contact radius) an d temperature in interacting asperities are obtained by solving the in tegral equation. A numerical solution of this equation is obtained whi ch shows that the contact radius decreases linearly with time. A stati stical analysis of the thermomechanical quantities has been carried ou t. The expectation and quantile for the maximum temperature are given as functions of the EHD film thickness parameter.
