The adsorption kinetics of crystal violet (CV) on silver mirror and tw
o different kinds of silver sols is studied. The adsorption of CV on s
ilver is homogeneous. It is confirmed that the topography of the surfa
ce affects only adsorption rate constant, while it does not change het
erogeneity parameter. The similar behavior of enhancement factor and a
dsorption rate constant of CV in the two silver sols is discussed. The
adsorption energy of CV and the concentration of adsorbed sites on th
e surface are estimated by adsorption isotherm. It is found that the e
nhancement effect on the silver mirror is determined by the concentrat
ion of adsorbed sites on surface.
