Cl. Khetrapal, RECENT ADVANCES AND FUTURE-DIRECTIONS OF NMR-SPECTROSCOPY OF MOLECULES ORIENTED IN LIQUID-CRYSTALS, International journal of modern physics b, 9(18-19), 1995, pp. 2573-2583
Recent interests in NMR spectroscopy of molecules oriented in liquid c
rystal solvents predominantly revolve around the developments of metho
ds for (1) spectral simplification, (2) novel applications and (3) und
erstanding of the solvent effects on molecular structure and function.
A number of such results and their critical evaluations are presented
, with emphasis on mixed liquid crystals of opposite diamagnetic susce
ptibility anisotropies, metal ion-ligand and weak molecular interactio
ns and the discovery of novel liquid crystalline phase. Future directi
ons of research, such as the use of ultra high magnetic fields, partia
lly and perdeuterated samples and near magic angle spinning experiment
s, are highlighted.
