Gv. Ionova et al., ESTIMATION OF TRENDS IN THERMODYNAMIC PROPERTIES ALONG THE TRANSACTINIDE SERIES - ENTHALPY OF SUBLIMATION, Radiochemistry, 37(4), 1995, pp. 282-291
Trends in the enthalpy of sublimation H-s along the transactinide seri
es (Z = 103-112) are estimated. These trends are governed by the gamma
(-1) parameter, which depends on the ground state configurations of th
e atom in the free and metallic states. The H-s-Z dependence is affect
ed by any change in the electronic configuration of the free atoms, as
well as by the participation of the p atomic orbital in the originati
on of metallic state. With the example of the group VI metals (Cr, Mo,
and W), it is shown how the change in electronic configurations of at
oms affects the H-s-Z dependence. Trends in H-s within the groups are
analyzed. The volatility of the transactinide metals is discussed.
