Abstract
A study has been made of microspecimens of Cm-244-Ni alloy obtained by high temperature condensation of curium metal vapor onto a nickel sub strate. Two intermetallic compounds have been identified in these spec imens - Ni15Cm2 with the hexagonal lattice of the Ni17Th2 type and Ni5 Cm with the hexagonal lattice of the Cu5Ca type. The crystal lattices of both intermetallic compounds become X-ray amorphous at room tempera ture owing to the alpha-decay of Cm-244.
