Abstract
This paper examines workforce aging within the British Columbia public service between 1983 and 1991. Payroll records from the Government Pe rsonnel Services Division were disaggregated by year, employee's age, sex, and classification, as well as Short Term Illness and Injury Plan and Long Term Disability usage. Retirement data from the annual repor ts of the public service superannuation fund are also used.
