A study is presented on the application possibilities of Kalman-filter
ing in combination with derivative spectroscopy in ICP optical emissio
n spectrometry using medium and high resolution spectrometers. To perf
orm this, model solutions and bauxite samples have been investigated.
The results permitted the conclusion that this evaluation methods prov
ides reliable results partly independently of line interferences and w
avelength shifts. The efficiency of the filtering is better using high
resolution spectrometers supplying more points within a spectrum.
