Janetia curviapicis sp. nov., occurring on submerged wood in Australia
, is described and illustrated. It differs from the previously describ
ed Janetia species in the curved or circinate apices of the conidia. T
his new species is compared and contrasted with the other 16 species d
escribed in the genus. An expanded generic concept is introduced to in
clude species with one or more of the following characteristics: synne
matal conidiomata; monoblastic conidiogenous cells; schizolytic conidi
al secession; distoseptate, obclavate conidia; mycophilic habitat. A d
ichotomous key to the 15 accepted species of the genus is provided.
