A method of transvaginal colpo-urethropexy, using fibrin sealant was s
tudied clinically. After a fingertip vaginal retropubic dissection, fi
brin sealant is instilled in the retropubic space with the intent of i
nducing fibrosis between the elevated urethro-vesical junction and the
retropubic periosteum. Twenty-three patients with urinary stress inco
ntinence underwent this procedure with 82% of satisfactory results and
18% failure. Complications were minimal. In the future: this techniqu
e could be useful for ambulatory surgery. Copyright (C) 1996 Elsevier
