Tss. Kumar et al., NANO3 EFFECTS ON PROPERTIES OF Y-BASED AND PB-BASED CERAMIC SUPERCONDUCTORS, Transactions of the Indian Institute of Metals, 48(3), 1995, pp. 217-220
The Effect of NaNO3 on the sinterability of Y1-xZrxBa2Cu3O7 (x = 0.025
& 0.5) has been investigated. Addition NaNo3 during sintering of the
superconductors, decreases the sintering temperature to 850 degrees C
and improves the thermal stability of the composite without altering t
he Tc. But the additive addition to the pre-sintered superconductor de
creases the Tc. However, heating of this composite in air at 850 degre
es C and 900 degrees C show very different conductivity behaviour. The
amount of weight loss above 550 degrees C is also very less for the c
omposite than the superconductors. As oxygen annealing has been propos
ed to improve the superconducting properties of the recent (Pb0.5Cd0.5
)Sr-2(Y0.7Ca0.3)Cu2O7 Superconductor, the effect of NaNO3 has been inv
estigated on this superconductor also. Addition of NaNO3 shifts the re
sistivity to higher temperatures and forms a denser structure probably
due to liquid phase sintering.
