Ar. Canellas et al., MR-IMAGING AND MR-ANGIOGRAPHY IN GROWTH-HORMONE SECRETING PITUITARY-ADENOMA AND ASSOCIATED GIANT INTERNAL CAROTID ANEURYSM, European radiology, 5(5), 1995, pp. 564-567
An unsuspected giant fusiform aneurysm arising from the intracavernous
segment of the internal carotid artery associated with a growth-hormo
ne secreting pituitary adenoma is presented. The aneurysm was diagnose
d with MRI using conventional spin-echo sequences, however, contrast-e
nhanced MRA permitted a better depiction of its relation with the caro
tid artery. The MR angiography technique may add useful information to
conventional MRI in the preoperative assessment of pituitary tumours.
