Ms. Viola, A NEW ELECTRIC-FIELD INTEGRAL-EQUATION FOR HETEROGENEOUS DIELECTRIC BODIES OF REVOLUTION EMBEDDED WITHIN A STRATIFIED MEDIUM, IEEE transactions on antennas and propagation, 43(10), 1995, pp. 1116-1122
In this paper, a new electric field integral equation (EFIE) is develo
ped for heterogeneous dielectric bodies of revolution embedded within
a layered medium, This formulation is a generalization of that found i
n [1] for dielectric bodies of revolution immersed in a uniform surrou
nd and shares the following distinctive qualities. First, the azimutha
l field component is eliminated thus affording a description having on
ly two scalar unknowns, Second, it is a pure-integral equation in whic
h there are no terms involving derivatives of the field components, Fi
nally, this description does not compromise the singularity of the res
ulting kernels, These attributes render this formulation advantageous
for both computational and theoretical pursuits, Application of the ne
w formulation to a benchmark problem supports its validity.
