Abstract
Women-owned businesses currently employ more workers than the Fortune 500 largest companies. Strickland and Burr argue that women entreprene urs are the fastest growing small business sector in the nation. Econo mic development programs should be expanded at the local, state, and f ederal government to maximize the strengths of these companies to incr ease their revenues, boost the tax base, and create jobs. These govern ment programs will assist these businesses to create the jobs of the f uture.
