Abstract
Syntheses of Nb-acetyltryptamine-4,5-dione and (+/-)-Nb-acetyltryptoph an-4,5-dione methyl ester are reported. They were excellent dienophile s as well as good electrophiles, and produced 6,7-disubstituted indole s in Diels-Alder reaction and various 7-substituted indoles with nucle ophiles.
