Abstract
Designing mechanical systems for efficient disassembly improves their maintainability. Issues related to design disassembly for maintainabil ity analysis of an evolving mechanical system design are discussed. Pr ocedures and methodologies for the identification of disassembly seque nce, animation of human technicians in performing the disassembly sequ ence, tool selection, time and cost analysis, and human factors analys is of the disassembly sequence are presented. Their software implement ation in a maintainability analysis workspace is described and illustr ated using a maintenance task example.
