An approximation of non-monotone, multivalued differential inclusions,
so-called hemivariational inequalities, is presented. A relation betw
een approximation problem and the problem of finding a substationary p
oint of an approximation of the corresponding potential function is al
so established. This relation makes it possible to solve the approxima
ted problem by using nonsmooth, non-convex optimization methods. Some
numerical experiments are also presented.
