M. Salleras et al., FOLLICULAR MYCOSIS-FUNGOIDES - RESPONSE TO TREATMENT WITH INTERFERON ALPHA-2A AND ETRETINATE, EJD. European journal of dermatology, 5(6), 1995, pp. 497-500
A 65-year-old man had a 7-year history of a generalized pruritic erupt
ion consisting of widespread follicular hyperkeratosis, comedo-like le
sions, acquired epidermal cysts and infiltrated plaques on the face, n
eck and hands. He also had diffuse alopecia and xerosis. Findings of h
istopathologic and immunohistochemical studies showed atypical CD4(+)
T lymphocytes infiltrating the hair follicles with preservation of the
epidermis. These findings were consistent with a diagnosis of follicu
lar mycosis fungoides. Remission was induced with a combination of int
erferon alpha-2a and etretinate.
